In August of 2012, construction began on the Mansions at Acqualina, an expansion to the five-diamond Acqualina Resort & Spa. It has since been anticipated to become the highest tier of luxury residences in South Florida, in keeping with the tradition of catering to the upscale lifestyle the neighboring resort is famous for. After completion, the Mansions at Acqualina will stand as the tallest building in Sunny Isles and the sixth-tallest building in Florida. The “Villa d’Acqua” is the 4,000 square-foot model representative of the 79 units, comprised of three to four bedrooms, 6.5 baths, a grand salon, several terraces, and expansive family room. The Palazzo D’Oro is the tower’s shining star, crowning the building with two-stories of exquisite amenities fit for royalty. It is expected to be sold very soon.

During its first month of sales, the Mansions at Acqualina sold out 51% of the building before constructed even started. In a short time, the two $16 million penthouses and 55 other units sold, leaving only 22 residences left to sell two weeks prior to construction.

The construction of the tower has economically marked a milestone in the recovery of real-estate financial market for condominiums as it was the first construction project to be afforded an over-$100 million loan in the Miami area since the crash. Other lenders sought to participate in the loan and, after four more lenders, the building had reached its limit. As of February 2013, 80% of the units have been sold.

Completion of the Mansions at Acqualina is slated for 2015. As you drive by the Acqualina Resort & Spa you will see towering cranes looming over Collins Avenue next to it; an exciting sign for expectant property owners and a reminder to prospective buyers to jump on the bandwagon of Miami’s most sought-after preconstruction property before it is too late.
